Tell me about yourself.
I am mom to 2 boys, Bryson (13) and Cooper (11), and wife to my hubby Bryan for 15 years! We have 2 doggies, 1 of which is my shadow, little 8 lb rescue toy poodle Max and the other is Gus, a Boykin Spaniel (the South Carolina State dog). My roots are in Charleston, SC, but I have lived up and down the east coast, in Colorado and now our family is in Bentonville, AR. I have a career in the Consumer Packages Goods industry and I am a Sales Director, working with the Walmart account. I love my job and have great passion developing new talent. Aside from work, I love to be outdoors; hiking biking, skiing and camping. I live for my boys and my family in general, but I love to have fun with friends and the outdoors is always part of the fun. Unfortunately, my besties are all over the country now, so that is what I get for moving so much! I laugh a lot, joke a lot, love to have fun and just be with my people! I believe in always doing the right thing and always assuming good intentions from others. Put positivity in the world and watch it come back!
How has your photo shoot experience shaped how you view yourself?
As we were taking the photos, I cried a bit, after being told so many times how 'beautiful' I was- how I was perfectly posed, or smiling, etc. I was taken back, as I don't think of myself like that. I look at myself differently now and can see beyond the flaws I always wish I could fix. I see me, my true self and I love it more than I did. :)
What message would you like to give other women that are going through a difficult time in life and might not feel worthy?
We are our own worse critics and always will be, but we have to stop and look in the mirror and see the wonderful that we are. Pause to say ' I am my kind of beautiful'. If we all were the same, what a dull world this would be. Each of us brings variety and spunk and excitement to our worlds and those around us. Enjoy that fact, and smile about it. Take a deep breath, search out your tribe in times of difficulty, and know this life is a journey, not a race to the end. You are strong. You are mighty. You are beautiful.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Slow down, as time flies and you won't realize it until it is already passed. Enjoy every. little. detail when you can. Your babies, your relationships, your parents, your grandparents, your school years... I could go on and on. Just slow down and appreciate what is special to you. Take that extra time.
What would you tell other women about stepping out of their comfort zone and doing a photo shoot?
Go for it! If you find the right person to take the photo shoot for you, it can be very comfortable. They can give you confidence and coach you through it. Don't think about what the pictures might look like, enjoy the experience and pampering. I can assure you that you will love the memories that this opportunity can give!
