Tell me about yourself.

Tell me about yourself if such a daunting question. I get nervous anytime anyone asks this. Do they want to hear about me? My life? My goals, hopes and dreams? I am a 27 year old wife and a toddler mom, also a mom to a baby who never experienced the sorrow and pain of this world. I am a dog mom. I have lived all over the world. All of these things about myself have shaped me into who I am today. I love to keep an open mind. I am a goal oriented, sassy, and stubborn. I am not perfect but I do my best, I love with my whole heart and care deep. My heart is on my sleeve and I cry easy but that is not a weakness, it is a strength. I am me.

How has your photo shoot experience shaped how you view yourself?

This photo shoot allowed me to see myself from the outside looking in, rather than the inside looking out. I saw past what I nitpick every time I stand in front of the mirror. I think for a brief moment I saw myself the way my husband and daughter see me, they see a beautiful strong woman. That feeling meant the world to me, because I think I can finally start believing it about myself.

What message would you like to give other women that are going through a difficult time in life and might not feel worthy?

No matter how you feel on any given day, you are worthy. You are worthy of love, support, happiness, and so much more. Life has a way of knocking you down but keep rising and keep fighting, because one day it will all be worth it. You will look back and realize what all you went through made you a strong, courageous woman. You will be proud and confident.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would tell myself that I can do so much more than I think I am capable of. Not to let others opinions of me steer me from being my true self. Not to conform to the newest fad and to just be unapologetically Alexis.

What would you tell other women about stepping out of their comfort zone and doing a photo shoot?

Any time you step out of your comfort zone you have the opportunity for growth. Don’t deny yourself that opportunity- take the leap and learn so much more about yourself than you imagine. See what others see rather than what you see when you scrutinize yourself in the mirror. Live on the edge, do something that scares you, take the photos.
